Organising Fieldwork? Make sure to be up to date!

5 March 2026

Last year, the Field Research Education Centre created a Teams environment entitled 'Field projects with Leiden students: information for staff members'. We felt the need to create this environment to have an easily accessible location where all staff that is organising fieldwork with students can find practical and constantly updated information.

In this Teams environment you can find a tick-the-box to-do-list that you can use in the organisation of your project. It also has information on insurance and responsibilities, student drivers, first aid, geodetic equipment that you can borrow, internship procedures, and on the Code of Conduct and unacceptable behavior.

It also has an excel file in which we urgently ask you to register your project, so we know who is away when and where, an overview the Faculty really needs to have in case possible issues relating to health and safety might occur (e.g., socio-political unrest or natural threats).

The information in this Teams environment is constantly updated, so please carefully check all information that is relevant for your upcoming fieldwork project(s) when preparing for the upcoming fieldwork season.

Many staff members doing fieldwork have been added to this teams environment, and they have been emailed about this last year.

In case you have not been emailed/added, please send an email to Maaike de Waal (m.s.de.waal@arch.leidenuniv.nl) in order to get access to this fieldwork information as well.
