Write for Leiden Law Blog upcoming academic year!
The Leiden Law Blog is a platform on Leiden Law School’s website where researchers, lecturers and students contribute to current discussions on topics related to law. It offers an opportunity to share expertise and insights with a broad public and to contribute to academic debate.
A blog is a short, accessible piece of writing that can be followed by a wide audience. You share your personal views on various topics and write under your own name. Check out the Leiden Law Blog for recent examples.
This academic year, we would like to receive blogs on various topics that are linked to current issues. An overview is given below of when certain topics may be of interest:
September
- 15 September: International Day of Democracy (UN)
- 15 September: Prinsjesdag, opening of the parliamentary year in the Netherlands
- 21 September: International Day of Peace (UN)
Oktober
- 6 October: Diversity Day
- 10 October: Day of Sustainability (first organised by Urgenda)
- 24 October: United Nations Day
- 29 October: Internet Day
November
- 2-8 November: Climate Week
- 10 November: World Science Day for Peace and Development (UN)
- 20 November: World Children’s Day (UN)
- 27 November: Green Friday
December
- 2 December: International Day for the Abolition of Slavery (UN)
- 9 December: International Anti-Corruption Day (UN)
- 10 December: Human Rights Day (UN)

How do I write a good blog?
A good blog is both accessible and informative. To the right of this page, you can read instructions on how to write a blog. These include the requirements your blog must meet and guidelines to follow. The main things to remember are:
- The word limit for a Leiden Law Blog is 800.
- The text should be accessible to readers who are less familiar with the topic.
- The topic should deal with a current issue.
