24 & 25 September 2026: external review criminology programmes

27 August 2026

Once every six years, a panel of independent experts (the assessment panel) evaluates whether our programmes meet the statutory quality requirements and can retain their accreditation. On 24 and 25 September, an external assessment panel will visit the Bachelor’s programme in Criminology and the Master’s programmes in Forensic Criminology and Crime and Criminal Justice to this end.

In preparation for the review, the programmes have drawn up a self-evaluation report and students have made a short video in which they present their experiences of the programmes. In addition, to reach its assessment, the committee will hold discussions with nine different groups of representatives, consisting of programme management, students, lecturers, members of the Board of Examiners and alumni.

Do you want to say something about the programmes?

If you are not scheduled to take part in one of the discussions with the assessment panel, have not contributed to the student video, but would still like to share your views regarding one of the criminology programmes, you can send a message to the assessment panel by 9 September at the latest to register for the consultation session. In your notification, please state the topic you wish to discuss, your name and your relationship to the programmes, and send this by email to the secretary, Dr I. Conradie (irene@conradie-advies.nl) at the Academion evaluation agency.

Invitation

After two days of discussions with representatives of the programmes, the assessment panel will present its preliminary findings on Friday 25 September at 4.15 pm in the Lorentzzaal of the Kamerlingh Onnes Building, followed by a reception.

Everyone is warmly invited to both events!
