Organisation
November 9: Pre-departure meeting for staff Archaeology
About the pre-departure meeting
Each year, the Faculty of Archaeology’s Field Research Education Centre organizes a ‘pre-departure meeting’. All staff members who organize fieldwork involving Leiden students have to have participated in at least one of those meetings.
The aim of these meetings is to prevent unsafe or undesirable situations for staff, students, third parties, and the discipline of archaeology itself. During a pre-departure meeting, information is provided on practical matters regarding the organization of fieldwork with Leiden students, as well as on health, safety, and issues concerning inappropriate behavior.
There is also an opportunity to ask questions, share any fieldwork-related concerns with colleagues, and learn from one another’s fieldwork challenges.
November 9, 15:00-17:00 hours
This year’s pre-departure meeting will take place on Monday, 9 November (15:00 – 17:00) in room STEEN/E002B.
In addition to staff members who have never attended the meeting before, those who have participated previously are also very welcome.
Attendance is highly recommended this year, given the many changes affecting field schools and internships.
No registration is required.
Teams environment
A dedicated Teams environment containing practical information is also available for all fieldwork staff. It is titled ‘Fieldwork projects with Leiden students: information for staff members’.
Staff members are asked to register their fieldwork projects here and can access up-to-date information at any time.
