Will India be a superpower by 2047? Join leading scholars in this special academic debate organised by the South and South-east Asia track at the BA International Studies programme at Leiden University on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, 18:00-19:30, at Auditorium 1B.10 in the university's Spui Campus in The Hague.

This debate combines scholarly reasoning with strategic analysis of India’s trajectory and its prospects as a potential superpower vis-à-vis the United States and China. It marks the first major event at the new campus building at Spui. Dr. Garima Mohan, Dr. Nicolas Blarel, Dr. Rogier Creemers, and Dr. Vineet Thakur will explore the provocative motion in a debate moderated by Richard Ghiasy. There will be a Q&A segment after the main debate, which promises to keep the session lively and engaging.
