How do we determine whether preventive interventions for health and well-being are effective when traditional randomized controlled trials are not feasible or ethically desirable? Join us for this lunch meeting featuring methodological experts to show alternative approaches to assess treatment effectiveness and to explore (new) approaches to generate “fit-for-purpose” evidence.

After a brief introduction by Sandra van Dijk, we warmly welcome two short presentations followed by a panel discussion.

The experts are:

  • Anja van der Voort, Associate Professor specializing in the Research Methodology of Educational and Child Research, is an expert in idiographic methods. She will provide a brief introduction to Single Case Experimental Design studies (SCED).
  • Saskia le Cessie, Professor in Statistical Methods for Observational Epidemiological Research, LUMC, is an expert in observation designs. She will explain how a special application of propensity scores can be used to mimic randomization in observation studies.
  • Elise Dusseldorp, Professor Methodology and Statistics in Psychology, FSW, will bring these perspectives together and invite the audience to engage in a discussion on future directions.

You can register via the button below. We look forward to receiving your registration no later than 19 June

We are also establishing an interest group on this theme. If you are unable to attend this event but would like to be involved, please leave your contact details via the registration form.
