Online webinar

Through interconnected presentations from three subject experts, this webinar aims to equip educators across Leiden University with practical and implementable knowledge regarding the use of Generative AI (GenAI) in the learning process.

Combining technical, legal, and pedagogical approaches, it encourages participants to make informed decisions about if, when, how, and why to use AI in their teaching.

The session will be structured as follows:

  • Introduction to AI: Learning Platform Developer Erwin Veenstra (LLInC) discusses how GenAI models are trained as well as their strengths, limitations, and the pitfalls involved in their use. A variety of relatively privacy-friendly tools will also be introduced.

  • Legal Challenges: IP & Technology Counsel Marco Correa Pérez (LLInC) dives into the most pressing legal issues surrounding GenAI in education as well as the legal frameworks governing its use in educational institutions. In doing so, he offers not only in-depth insights, but practical solutions to challenges.

  • Didactics & AI: Educational Consultant Anthea Aerts (LLInC) explores the use of GenAI both in and beyond the classroom, providing a glimpse into major challenges regarding assessment, critical thinking, and the broader learning process.

Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity for questions and informal discussion.
