EUniWell Rectors meet in Leiden

The Rectors of the eight European EUniWell universities met in July in Leiden. During the meeting they discussed the future of this alliance that focuses on joint research and education in the area of health.

Hester Bijl, Rector of Leiden University, opened the third Assembly of Rectors by reflecting on the first pilot phase of the project. 'There can be no doubt that we have been through a challenging period. The EUniWell project was launched during a pandemic. Even so, we have together built on the foundations, we have implemented our programme and learned from the challenges we met along the way.'  

University of Kjiv

Volodymyr Bugrov, Rector of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, was present as a special guest. Even against the background of the war in Ukraine, Bugrov stated that his country is very keen to continue to  make academic progress. He indicated that the University of Kjiv would like to become a member of the EUniWell alliance.

As well as the opportunity for reflection, there was also time to look to the future of the alliance. The discussions stressed the importance of new partnerships and the internal mobility of students and academics.

The EUniWell alliance was entered into by the universities of Leiden, Cologne, Birmingham, Florence, Linnaeus, Murcia, Nantes and Semmelweis. You can read the full article on the Assembly of Rectors here.
