Sabine de Winter

Name:
Sabine de Winter

Age:
25

Position:
PhD candidate at the division of Drug Discovery & Safety

Work at LACDR since:
January 2023

When I am off…
I am mostly catching up with friends and family. Social contact is really important to me and I cherish the opportunity to make new memories together. Moreover, I love to cook, do some aquarelle painting, I like to solve crossword puzzles and I have a lot of plants both in my house and on my balcony to take care of!

Favorite cook book:
Ottolenghi, Flavour. This man is so creative and talented, in every recipe I learn something new!

Good habit:
I am quite punctual and am often early at work despite the fact that I have to travel an hour from Utrecht to Leiden.

Bad habit:
I have a tendency to skip going to the gym. Exercise is not something I particularly enjoy, so I find myself neglecting it more often than I should.

Favorite movie or series:
I really enjoyed watching the series ‘The Sinner’, which is about an awkward detective that solves cruel cases, and ‘Ozarks’, in which a normal American family is dragged into the world of a drug cartel. My guilty pleasures are series about (historical) royals, such as ‘Bridgerton’ and ‘The Crown’.

Upcoming summer plans:
I recently returned from a trip to North Macedonia with 12 of my friends. It's a relatively undiscovered country with incredible people and stunning nature. I highly recommend visiting. In July, I will be traveling to Champagne, France, with my former housemates. Additionally, my boyfriend's family and I have plans to go camping in France, followed by a trip with the two of us to Italy for some quality time together.

My biggest learning goal at the moment:
To find the main focus in my research and to avoid panicking when things don't progress as smoothly or quickly as I'd like them to.
