Lunch and a chance to let off steam for key users of BAS Insite
Following a turbulent winter in which the launch of BAS Insite caused a number of problems, the faculty treated more than forty key users to lunch at Tabú on Thursday 16 April.
When it was launched in January, the new BAS Insite administration system proved to be less effective than expected. ‘It was touch and go whether staff could be appointed on time,’ says secretary and junior institute manager Jurgen Lingen. ‘Of course, we hadn’t assumed that everything would run smoothly, but we were sometimes facing weeks of problems appointing staff. Fortunately, we’re now in calmer waters. It’s nice to be recognised with a lunch like this and to be able to share experiences with colleagues.’
‘We’ve had our concerns within the faculty over the recent period, but we’ve always been able to share them with one another,’ says secretary Inge Ligtvoet. ‘As support staff, we want everything to be properly organised for our staff, and that hasn’t always been the case in recent months. It’s incredibly frustrating when every puzzle you solve creates a new one. The lunch is a nice token of appreciation for our hard work, especially as new challenges will be coming our way in the near future.’
Letting it all go for a while
Executive director Saskia Goedhard hoped that, at the very least, the staff would be able to put all their problems aside for a while during the meal. ‘A lunch isn’t going to solve the fact that the transition has been messy and we still have a huge number of steps to take,’ she said in her speech, ‘but it’s really good to at least be sitting down together. And maybe we can even find something else to talk about than BAS Insite.’
