Take part in the national PhD survey

1 June 2023

What are the experiences of PhD candidates and how satisfied are they with various aspects of the PhD trajectory, such as teaching, supervision and workload? PhD candidates can now provide feedback in the national PhD survey.

It is important for the university and LUMC to know how PhD candidates are doing and what their opinions are on topics such as supervision, training and facilities. That is why Leiden University and LUMC are participating in the national PhD survey.

How to participate

All PhD candidates at Leiden University have received an invitation by email on 31 May to participate and fill in the survey. The e-mail included a link to participate. LUMC PhD students will receive the invitation via LAP.

If you are a PhD candidate you can also take the survey via the button below. It takes 15 minutes to complete the survey and participation is anonymous:

Purpose of the survey

Through this survey, PhD candidates can provide feedback on various aspects of the PhD trajectory. We hope to get input from as many PhD candidates as possible. The survey is meant for all PhD types (external, scholarship and employed). With this input, our university can improve policies and facilities for PhD students. As the survey was also conducted two years ago, it also gives us insight into developments.

Since all Dutch universities participate in the PhD survey, an insight into the national situation will be obtained, best practices will be identified and universities can learn from each other. The national results of the PhD survey are presented on the Universities of the Netherlands website.

The survey is conducted by the Center for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS, Inge van der Weijden), at the request of Strategy and Academic Affairs (SAZ, Janneke Vader). If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Janneke Vader (j.vader@BB.leidenuniv.nl).
