Changes to research portfolio
As of this academic year, Professor Janine Ubink has resigned from her position as Director of Research so that she can fully focus on her own teaching and research activities again. The Faculty Board is extremely grateful to Janine for the way in which she has fulfilled this role since February 2024.
It has been an intensive and eventful year, including the uncertaintly regarding the continuation of the starter and incentive grants (which unfortunately have stopped), but also the final evaluation of the Law Sector Plan, just to mention two major topics. During this time, Janine has shaped the faculty’s research policy with great commitment and expertise. The Faculty Board thanks her wholeheartedly for all her efforts.
Portfolio Research
Now that Janine is handing over her duties, the Faculty Board has looked at an appropriate arrangement for the research portfolio. As portfolio holder for Research on the Faculty Board, Dean Suzan Stoter will coordinate the faculty’s research policy and be chair of the Research Board (OZB).
In addition, the Faculty Board has a vacancy for a Director of the Graduate School (0.2/0.3 FTE) who will play a key role in the area of PhD policy.
A vacancy has also been published online for a new PhD Dean who will take over from Hilde Wermink who held the position for almost four years.
New PhD representative
Tim Lubbers has stopped as PhD representative. We thank Tim for his hard work and contributions in this role. Maria-Lucia Rebrean will now take over the position of PHD representative and will attend the meetings of the Research Board.
The PhD representative monitors the interests of the Leiden Law PhD Community (LLPC) in matters involving the full PhD trajectory; attends meetings of the Research Board; and has regular contact with various departments to gather input on PhD issues.
