Opening Green Corner at the KOG
On 18 March, Global Recycling Day, Esther Kentin and student assistant Cato van Driel opened the Green Corner with LUGO. This sustainability initiative encourages us to share and recyle items. Together we can fight waste and overconsumption.
None other than our assessor Roel Kwast was the first to place his items on the shelves for reuse. The Green Corner encourages us to reduce waste by facilitating reuse and recycling. For instance, you can bring or take away books, plant cuttings and sports equipment. There are also collection points for batteries and plastic bottles. So come along and check it out!
What is LUGO?
LUGO stands for Leiden University Green Office. It is the hub in Leiden where students and staff cooperate in making our university more sustainable. LUGO has two main objectives: stucturally integrating sustainability in our education, research and facilities; and fostering a culture of sustainability among students and staff.
