The active bystander
In the interactive Active Bystander workshop, you will learn how to recognise, discuss and respond to inappropriate behaviour. You will receive practical guidance on how to intervene, both in the moment and afterwards. The workshop lasts three hours. You will practise using realistic scenarios from the university environment and work with trainers and role-play actors from Human Centric. This will allow you to try different ways of responding and explore which approach best suits you and the situation.

Workshop
Interactive three-hour workshop, with introduction, reflection, real-life situations and exercises with role-play actors.
What will you learn during this workshop?
After the workshop you will:
- be able to recognise different forms and signs of inappropriate behaviour;
- be able to assess a situation and decide whether and how to intervene;
- be familiar with different ways of addressing or stopping inappropriate behaviour;
- be able to provide clear feedback and set boundaries;
- know how to support someone afterwards;
- be able to reflect on your role and actions you can take.
During the workshop, you will use with a practical step-by-step approach: recognise, assess, intervene, reflect and follow up. Depending on the situation, you can, for example, distract, offer feedback, set boundaries or record the behaviour and take action later. [humancentric.nl]
Through role-playing exercises with actors, you will experience the effects of different interventions first-hand. You will have the opportunity to try out different phrases and responses, and will receive practical feedback that you can apply to real-life situations.
