Researchers from Suriname and the Netherlands bring attention to the beautiful biodiversity of Suriname, as well as all the challenges conservation efforts face from climate change and the exploitation of oil, gold, wood and bauxite. There will be a focus on research and observations from the past and present, but also the possibilities to closer cooperation in both research and teaching.

The symposium is a joint initiative from people of both Leiden University and the Anton de Kom University of Surniname (AdeKUS). The symposium is open to all with an interest in Suriname, tropical biodiversity, nature conservation, internships abroad or people who want to contribute to the goals of the Biodiversity Research and Education Program Suriname (BioREPS) initiative.

If you want to financially contribute to the BioREPS program, you can do so here.

When: The symposium takes place on 5 December, from 10:00 to 15:30, followed by drinks. Lunch will be arranged for those that reserved.
