Discover your health at the Leiden Gezond Festival
On Saturday 27 June Leidens' City Hall transforms into a space where there is plenty to discover and do related to health, for both young and old.
Professor of Neuropsychology Erik Scherder will take visitors into the world of the brain, exercise and health.
At the festival you will find interactive stands from researchers, healthcare professionals, students and organizations from Leiden demonstrating how science and health come together in daily life.
Immerse yourself in an ice bath, discover whether you are an early bird or a night owl, and have your blood pressure measured. Discuss mental health, try boxing while preserving brain cells and learn more about screen time for children.
Interactive contributions from FSW are provided by these exhibitors:
- Isabelle Roggema lets the young visitor recognize what tension in the body does to you through an experiment with a mystery box. The participant receives immediate explanation and tips how to deal with this tension.
- At the booth of Ashish Ghoerbien parents and children can participate in an activity together. Through heart rate visualization, it is explained how stress responses and parent-child reactions are investigated in scientific research.
- Theres Patzelt allows visitors to experience the psychology of physical complaints. In conversation with psychologists and researchers, and through participation in interactive experiments, the route from physical sensation to treatment is explained.
- Renske Krijt's FIT HEART stand gives visitors the chance to take various small fitness tests. The goal is to introduce visitors to reward principles surrounding exercise in an accessible way, through information and interaction.
- Anastasiia Myronenko engages in a conversation with participants about expectations regarding health and healthcare providers through a quiz.
The Leiden Gezond Festival is free to attend and is part of the Dutch Bio Science Week.
Leiden Gezond Festival is being organized by the Leiden Healthy Society Center.
What does ‘healthy living together’ mean when knowledge, policy and everyday practice truly meet? In a conversation with LHSC key figure Anke Klein, it becomes clear what the Leiden Healthy Society Center stands for: bringing together what often remains separate — science, lived experience and societal questions.
