If you need any help with your research or if you encounter problems during your PhD track, Leiden University provides several different types of support for PhD candidates. There are also groups, networks and communities in which you can meet other PhD candidates.

Do you have a guest who only requires limited ICT facilities? If so, you can apply for an ULCN account via your GMS-contact person. If your guest or external visitor needs more facilities, such as access to network drives, you have to request for a guest account via the Service portal.

The remote workplace allows you to open a virtual workplace from your own PC, Mac, smartphone or tablet. The Ethics Committee gives binding advice on ethical issues in research. This may be the case when you handle sensitive data. But also in other cases, like handling human remains, the Ethics Committee may require you to take steps to protect your data, which will implicate Research Data Management.

When the PhD research has been completed and the dissertation is (nearly) finished, there are several more steps to take before you can defend it. For example, you must submit your manuscript and make preparations for the PhD defence ceremony.
