Emeritus Professor Ben Lugtenberg received ‘The Arima Award for Applied Microbiology’ from the IUMS (International Union of Microbial Societies) for his life-time contributions to this field.

The Executive Board has appointed Professor Harold Linnartz as Professor of Laboratory Physics with effect from 1 June 2011. Linnartz has worked since 2005 as senior lecturer at the Leiden Observatory.

Professor E.R. (Erwin) Muller will be appointed Dean of the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs in the Hague with effect from 1 September 2018. Muller succeeds Professor Kutsal Yesilkagit, who recently stepped down as Dean.
