Assessment of internships

Internship assessment takes place according to Faculty standards with associated feedback and assessment forms.

Internships within the Faculty of Humanities are assessed by the (internal) internship examiner of the study programme, with input from the (external) internship supervisor.

Input from internship supervisor

The external internship supervisor provides the internship examiner with input for the assessment via a standardised feedback form. This form is sent to the internship supervisor by the Career Service halfway through the internship period.

Below you can view the feedback form:

Assessment by internship examiner

In the assessment, the internship examiner weighs the following components:

  1. the internship plan and preparation of the internship;
  2. the performance during the internship: mainly based on the input from the internship supervisor;
  3. the internship report;
  4. the final product.

Students must score at least a pass on components 2 and 3 in order to successfully complete the internship. The assessment is recorded in a standardised assessment form, which the Career Service will email to you halfway through the internship period.

Feedback to the student

The student receives feedback on their internship during a final assessment interview with the internship examiner. After completion of the assessment, the internship examiner sends the completed assessment form to the student.

Registration of the mark

After completion of the assessment, the internship examiner sends the internship report, the assessment form with the mark and the feedback form by the internship supervisor, to the appropriate education administration, which is responsible for the registration of the mark and for archiving.

Internship supervision

For more information on internship supervision please refer to this website’s Teaching section: Supervising an internship.

Internship regulations

More information about the internship report, the final product and the assessment can be found in the Internship regulations for Humanities Bachelor's and Master's programmes. This is included as an appendix to the Faculty's Course and Examination Regulations.
