MS Teams (Online)

XR ERA is an online, international community dedicated to knowledge sharing within the field of Extended Reality (XR) technologies in education. Founded in 2020, it is wholly run by the Leiden Learning & Innovation Centre (LLInC) and organises monthly community Meetups, at which specially-invited speakers present their recent projects and research, followed by a Q&A.

For our May Meetup, we’re delighted to welcome Laurent Coopmans, a Technical Physician at the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC).

As part of the Leiden AI XR Research Group (LAIXR), Laurent will present Virtual Reality's (VR) potential to train our future cardiac surgeons, nurses, and other allied healthcare professionals to prepare for the unexpected. Feel welcome to take a look at the LAIXR website in the meantime to gain an impression of their work in the areas of VR for pain relief, AI handtracking, and surgical simulation.

For any questions, contact Pippa Brownlie (xrcommunity@llinc.leidenuniv.nl)

How to sign up?

Access to all Meetups is exclusive to XR ERA community members but, if you would like to attend, it's not too late to register here for our free membership and access! The MS Teams invite will then be sent by email.
