Transferable skills

Leiden University has selected 13 shared transferable skills that are important for all of its students, regardless of what they are studying. As a faculty, we (co‑)support lecturers and programmes in integrating these skills into the curriculum.

Shared transferable skills

The development of the 13 transferable skills stems from one of the ambitions in Leiden University’s educational vision. The shared framework is intended to support the further development of skills‑based education. Read more about the transferable skills.

The 13 shared transferable skills

For teachers

Do you incorporate one or more of the transferable skills into your course? You can use the general descriptions and behavioural indicators for support. On the right side of this page, you will find an elaboration of the skills and a guide for formulating learning objectives related to them. This framework can also serve as a useful tool for examining skills development at the curriculum level, for example by developing learning trajectories. If you have questions or ideas, contact Eden Lutz via e.lutz@fgga.leidenuniv.nl.

Skill'Ed

This skills education will be further supported through the Skill’Ed project, within which a skills platform is being further developed. FGGA is also participating in this initiative - read more.
