Excellent oral pleadings at EUniWell Moot Court Competition in Murcia
On 27 and 28 March 2023, students Julliette Nabben, Rani Badloe and Pieter Jordans, coached by lecturer Esther Kentin, participated at the EUniWell Moot Court Competition in Murcia. The topical moot case was inspired by the European sactions against Russian oligarchs. Besides the excellent oral pleadings, new European ties were also established with students from universities in Cologne, Nantes, Birmingham, Kyiv and Murcia. The students from Cologne won the final before a panel of renowned judges, including Pedro Cruz Villalón, former president of the Spanish Constitutional Court and former advocate general at the Court of Justice of the European Union, and Mislav Mataija, a member of the Legal Service of the European Commission.
Both the experience of pleading a case as well as building new connections will be useful for our Leiden students in the future.
