Update on the Agora construction works - april 2026
There are currently three different ongoing real estate–related projects within Agora, and a fourth one will be starting soon. Below is an overview:
1) Replacement of Lighting
Green light for new lighting in Agora - Leiden University
2) Replacement of Sunshades of the Exterior of the Building
From Tuesday 28 April until the end of June, the sunshades will be replaced. By the end of this week, the scaffolding will be completed and fencing will be placed around it. As a result, the bicycle shed will be fully accessible again.
In the coming period, some disturbance may be experienced due to drilling and people working on the scaffolding. In addition, staff will enter some offices to replace the sunshades.
We understand the inconvenience and kindly ask for your patience.
3) Testing of the Evacuation System
In an earlier message, it was announced that the central evacuation system would be replaced during weeks 14 to 17. This work is now nearly completed. Final tests are currently being carried out, which means that occasional noise or voice messages may be heard throughout the building.
4) Testing of Building-Related Installations – Steegman
In weeks 19 through 25, the NEN 3140 inspection must be carried out. To perform the inspection, measurements need to be taken, and for this purpose the power will need to be temporarily switched off. Steegman personnel may also need to enter workspaces such as offices.
To minimize inconvenience as much as possible, signs will be placed at the relevant locations in the building where the measurements are taking place. These signs will indicate that the power will be temporarily shut off. Steegman staff will also be present in these areas to inform people that the power is being turned off.
You are therefore requested to pay attention to the signs and to allow Steegman employees access to carry out the inspection.
