Graduation is an important occasion both for the student and for the University. This is the point in time when a student becomes an alumnus. The University is eager to maintain lifelong contact with its alumni.
Every study programme and faculty gives its own twist to the graduation ceremony. In addition, a distinction is made between bachelor’s and master’s graduations, and there are group and individual graduation ceremonies.
We have created a short animation film (in English and in Dutch) that you can show during group ceremonies. For advice or help, please contact Lucienne Boehmer.
For graduation ceremonies Leiden University has created graduation folders and a congratulations flyer with information about the University’s alumni services. Every faculty and study programme is free to add its own information to the graduation folder.
You can order graduation folders via the SCM department.
Congratulations from the Rector Magnificus
Every student who is awarded a bachelor’s or master’s diploma receives a congratulations e-mail from the Rector Magnificus. The e-mail contains a video message from Rector Carel Stolker and replaces the Rector’s letter that was previously included in the graduation folder.
