Make your data FAIR

Contemporary data management practices rest on the four principles: findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability.

Good data management practices should result in compliance with all of them. For your research data to be FAIR, it should contain the following:

  • Findable: Persistent identifiers (PIDs), Rich metadata, Indexed data repositories
  • Accessible: Standard communication protocol; Open Access, free protocol; Authentication where necessary; Metadata is always available
  • Interoperable: Using standard Vocabularies; Linked metadata
  • Reusable: Metadata have multiple attributes; Usage license; Provenance; Community Standards.
