Treasures Festival – A Creative Initiative of the ERC-funded ARTIVES Project (Nov 29, Rotterdam)

The Treasures Festival is a creative public output of the ERC-funded ARTIVES Project, developed by LUCAS-researchers Kamila Krakowska Rodrigues (PI), Sanne Rotmeijer (Postdoc), and Carmen van Mulier (Artist researcher).

On Saturday, November 29, Lab Grounds (’s-Gravendijkwal 58b, Rotterdam) will transform into a vibrant meeting place filled with music, film, workshops, parades, and stories. The festival celebrates four diasporic traditions rooted in Rotterdam: Batuku (Cabo Verde), Angisa (Suriname), Seú (Curaçao), and Capoeira (Brazil) – making them visible, audible, and tangible.

The programme includes workshops, films, podcasts, concerts, and parades, alongside discussions and debates with artists, archivists, and thinkers on urban culture and postcolonial diversity. Organized by the ARTIVES project in collaboration with Productiehuis SchoneKunsten and the Rotterdam City Archive, the event will also feature the public handover of new audio-visual materials to the city archive, ensuring these stories remain part of Rotterdam’s collective memory.

Free entrance – everyone is warmly invited to join.
