Scholarly Publications and LUCRIS Publication Management

Leiden University Scholarly Publications is a database of publications by academics from and institutions affiliated to Leiden University. Researchers and PhD candidates use LUCRIS Publication Management (PM) to add publications (except for doctoral theses) to the Repository. Wherever possible, publications should be Open Access in the digital environment.

Log in to LUCRIS

Leiden University Scholarly Publications comprises a collection of publications by academics and a collection of student theses. Not only is it easy to find publications in Scholarly Publications itself, but also with search engines such as Google, Google Scholar and Open Access OAIster.

By publishing Open Access:

  • you increase the accessibility and visibility of your publications
  • you increase your citations
  • you comply with the Open Access policy of the university and external funders (such as NWO and ERC).

Read more about Leiden University's Open Access policy on the website of Leiden University Libraries.

If you are a researcher at Leiden, you can use LUCRIS PM to deposit your publications in Scholarly Publications and also add them to your personal profile on the website. You can access LUCRIS PM with your ULCN account. Leiden University Libraries are the system managers.

If you wish to submit a doctoral thesis, you must take other steps. For more information on the contact person for LUCRIS PM and Leiden University Scholarly Publications see the Leiden University Libraries website.

You can add a Publications tab to your personal profile page on the website by registering your publications via LUCRIS PM. Please note that it may take some time before the Publications tab appears.

Publishers sometimes refuse permission to deposit a publication in Leiden University Scholarly Publications. However, you may be able to deposit an author’s version (that doesn’t use the publisher’s layout) or the publisher’s PDF after a certain embargo period.

Researchers with a labor agreement with the University can make use of the right to use Article 25fa of the Dutch Copyright Act (Taverne Amendment) to share short scientific and professional works, regardless of any restrictions imposed by the publisher. Read more about this provision on the Leiden University Libraries website.
