Are you a research support professional who would like to learn more about project management? Join this interactive training course on managing complex research projects—from grant acquisition to implementation and reporting.
What to expect
- Interactive sessions covering the full project lifecycle—from proposal to closure—with real-life examples and discussions.
- Insights into roles and responsibilities of project managers at each phase, and guidance on where to find support.
- Network analysis to help you map your internal and external connections—because every project manager is a spider in a web of stakeholders!
- Case-based learning: participants are encouraged to bring their own questions or project cases for discussion.
- Practical tips on streamlining project management using tools and smarter workflows.
Target group
This workshop is designed for Leiden University and LUMC members of the Leiden Research Support Network. Are you a junior research project manager (0–3 years of experience or having managed a few projects), or someone interested in learning more and exchanging experiences in project management? Then this is the right training opportunity for you!

This workshop is designed and facilitated by four experienced project managers from Leiden University and LUMC:

- Dimitra Kouimtzidou – Project Leader at LiACS (Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science).
- Mariana Avalos Garcia – Project Leader at IBL (Institute of Biology Leiden).
- Danijela Koppers-Lalic – Project Management Lead - Consortium Coordination at LUMC.
Who’s organising this event?
This event is organised by the Leiden Research Support Network. The network is for all research support professionals working at Leiden University. Within the network, research support professionals from different domains exchange knowledge and experiences, and work together to answer (complex) questions from researchers. Questions?
