Honours education

Honours education caters to the most talented and motivated students at Leiden University. Students receive honours education in addition to their regular bachelor’s or master’s programmes. Furthermore, honours education is available to pupils in the final two years of secondary school.

The Leiden view on honours education

Honours education encourages students to be the best that they can be. Therefore, the honours programmes are tailored to the needs and talents of the individual participants. Moreover, they encourage students to explore new avenues of research and skill-development. Students are expected to explore outside of their comfort zones and discover their talents as well as their pitfalls.

Honours education at Leiden University is interdisciplinary and future-oriented with a particular focus on societal challenges. The Honours Academy aims to be a testing ground where lecturers are given the opportunity to develop and optimise their teaching. As such the Honours Academy aspires to further educational innovation throughout Leiden University.
