Noise due to replacement of windows UB facade
From Monday 4 March to mid-October 2024, maintenance works will take place on the glazing of the University Library (UB). All windows in the outer facade will be replaced with HR++ glass windows featuring heat-reflective coating. Prior to this, window frames will be sanded and painted on the exterior of the library.
Sanding and painting will generally be carried out per floor, starting on the 2nd floor, followed by the 1st floor, and then the ground floor (subject to change). Subsequently, the windows on each floor will be replaced in the same order. The works do not affect the Asian Library.
During this period, there may be some noise disturbance. QR codes are available at various locations in the UB, offering daily updates on potential noise disturbance in the building. Free earplugs are available at the reception desk.
Special Collections Reading Room
Visitors to the Special Collections Reading Room may also experience some inconveniences. Due to renovations, the Special Collections Reading Room will be closed from 6 until 17 May. Only limited services will be available. For questions, please contact specialcollections@library.leidenuniv.nl.
