Leiden University has policies in place regarding travel restrictions for students and staff within the context of their studies, work or research. The basis of these restrictions are the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs travel advisories.

If you want to travel for work to an area with a security risk country or area with the color code orange and/or red, you need prior permission from the university.

Postdoc and linguist Evelyn Bosma receives the Keetje Hodshon Prize for her dissertation. For her research on the multilingualism of Frisian children, Bosma previously won the Klokhuis Science Prize and the Campus Fryslân Science Prize.

Organisation

Hundreds of students and staff from Leiden University gave a ‘whistle concert’ on 11 December against the planned cuts to higher education. Similar protests were held in other student cities on the same day.

The KNMI has issued a code red weather warning because of slippery conditions. This applies from 03.00 on Monday 15 February. All university buildings, both in Leiden and The Hague, will therefore remain closed until at least 12.00. Update: the buildings will reopen after 12.00.
