BAS InSite

Leiden University uses the Basic Administration System - BAS InSite to handle HR, financial and administrative matters. The system provides a single integrated platform for HR, finance and procurement.

Basic Administration System

The Basic Administration System (BAS) supports the university’s core processes. It has several portals:

  1. BAS InSite: the user portal for day-to-day tasks
  2. BAS Profit: the ‘back-end’ of the system for management and administration
  3. BAS OutSite: external portal for suppliers and job applicants
  4. Pocket app: mobile access for tasks and notifications

Most users work mainly in BAS InSite.

How BAS InSite works

The How BAS InSite works webpage describes how processes in the system operate and how workflows, tasks and roles together determine who does what. It also explains the sequence of steps in a process and what happens when a task is approved or rejected.

Working with BAS InSite

The Getting started with BAS InSite webpage assists you with performing tasks in the system. It describes how to start a process, what you need and which aspects require particular care when entering data. It also shows you how to monitor the status of a request and where to find additional assistance.

Where to find what information

Several sources are available to help you with executing processes in BAS InSite: the staff website, BAS InSite and the Helpdesk Portal.

Staff website
The website is the starting point for general information, such as policy and regulations, explanations about BAS and a summary of all the available information.

BAS InSite
Explanations are provided within BAS InSite when you enter requests. This is where you perform all actions relating to HR, finance and procurement.
