Intervision for PhDs - Reflect & Grow

Doing a PhD can bring a wide range of challenges—whether in collaboration with your supervisor, in the research process itself, or in your daily academic practice. This intervision program offers a supportive space to reflect on such situations together with a fixed group of peers. Each month, you will discuss concrete cases from your own experience using a structured intervision method. By exploring different perspectives and solutions, you not only find new ways of approaching challenges, but also strengthen your skills in reflective dialogue and peer support.

Why this programme?

During your PhD you are likely to encounter questions and challenges that are not always easy to solve on your own. This intervision programme helps you reflect on these situations with fellow PhD candidates in a safe and constructive setting. Working in a fixed group allows you to build trust and continuity, so that you can go deeper into the issues that matter most to you. At the same time, you will learn how to facilitate intervision yourself—an invaluable skill for your future academic and professional career.

What will you do?

  • Bring in cases from your own PhD practice—whether about supervision, collaboration, the research process, or other challenges you face.
  • Reflect on these cases together with peers using a structured intervision method.
  • Explore new perspectives and discover practical ways to address the issues at hand.
  • Develop skills to conduct effective intervision sessions, so you can continue this practice independently in the future.

Setup

You will work in a fixed group of PhD candidates, meeting five times over a period of five months. Each session lasts 2.5 hours and is guided by a professional intervision facilitator. Every session includes the discussion of several cases, peer feedback, and structured reflection exercises.

Workload

The program consists of five sessions of 2.5 hours each and one kick-off day of 5.5 hours.
