Want to be part of the conversation about a dignified and respectful working environment at the Faculty of Humanities? Come join us at the Mindlab theatre and discussion programme in September!

The faculty is a place where we work together and spend a lot of time. We want our faculty to be a place where everyone feels at home, and where having frank and open conversations, even about difficult topics, is second nature. However, sometimes it is not easy to engage in conversations about issues that affect us personally, such as unacceptable behaviour. In collaboration with the Mindlab theatre and discussion programme, we want to foster an environment in which these conversations happen more often  and more easily. The play serves as a conversation starter, to facilitate discussions of a safe working environment. We are pleased to invite you to attend one of the six performances in September. This is a topic that affects us all.

About Mindlab

Mindlab (see the (Dutch) trailerdepicts socially unsafe work situations in the academic workplace that relate to power dynamics, intimidation, the role of the supervisor and integrity. The situations presented provide an opportunity to share experiences and reflect on unacceptable behaviour. How can we create a dignified and respectful working environment in which staff feel able to speak up, hold each other to account and have visible and open conversations with each other? There will be an opportunity to discuss these questions as a group after the performance.

Mindlab has been performed at several Dutch universities and has helped to bring about much-needed change. The play lasts 75 minutes and is performed in Dutch with English surtitles.
