Participate in a discussion about teacher development?

Are you curious about the teacher development model developed by FSW, FGW and LLInC and would you like to contribute to its further development?  

Please sign up for the focus group on Thursday, December 14 or Thursday, January 18 (Dutch) in the Pieter de la Court building (location to follow)! Anyone with teaching tasks, from novices to very experienced teachers, can participate.

Structure and purpose of the focus group

During the focus group we will discuss how to give direction to teacher development and what is needed to further develop or update knowledge and skills in the field of teaching. By participating you will gain more insight into the approach that Leiden University has in mind and into competences in the field of teaching. 

With this project we want to make additional efforts in the coming years to better facilitate and stimulate teacher development. By this we mean the development of knowledge and skills necessary to continue practicing the teaching profession well. It helps if you think along with us about the presentation and elaboration of the model. The findings resulting from the focus groups will be included in a report for the project coordinator and faculty administrators, on the basis of which they will make decisions about the further approach to teacher development. 

Background of the teacher development model

Leiden University's teacher development model provides insight into the various task domains within education in which one can further professionalize based on interest and ambition. The model also serves as a tool for discussing growth and development opportunities between lecturer and manager, and to provide insight into development needs at team level. In the coming period, the FGW and FSW will investigate the practical applicability of the teacher-development model through focus groups. Based on the findings of the focus groups, we will adjust the model further if necessary.
