Marieke Adriaanse appointed as member of the Healthy Society Programme steering committee

Prof. Dr. Marieke Adriaanse has been appointed as strategic representative and new member of the steering committee of the Healthy Society Programme. This programme is a collaboration between Leiden University, Delft University of Technology, Erasmus University, Medical Delta, and the Province of South Holland. It focuses on creating a resilient society in which everyone can live as mentally, physically, and socially healthy as possible.

Strategic Pillars Healthy Society Programme

The Healthy Society Programme, initiated by Prof. Dr. Andrea Evers, is built on four strategic pillars:

  • Inter- and transdisciplinary research
  • Scaling up proven interventions
  • Strengthening education and knowledge sharing
  • Promoting sustainable collaborations between knowledge institutions, governments, healthcare and welfare organizations, businesses, and local communities.

These pillars are based on an integrated vision of health, interdisciplinarity, person-centered and sustainable solutions with citizens at the forefront, and the renewal and utilization of existing knowledge.

Expertise in behavioral change and health promotion

Marieke’s expertise aligns seamlessly with the programme’s focus, approach, and principles. As Professor of Behavioral Interventions in Population Health Management, with a joint appointment at LUMC and the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences at Leiden University, she brings extensive expertise in behavioral change and health promotion, with particular attention to people with a lower socioeconomic status.

Recognition and Rewards ambassador and advocate of Open Science

In addition, she is committed as an Recognition and Rewards ambassador and advocate of Open Science, which fits perfectly with the programme’s values and methods. Marieke is strongly dedicated to transdisciplinary collaboration and societal impact. With her expertise, enthusiasm, and ability to connect, Marieke will make a valuable contribution to the steering committee and the broader programme.
