Request for Approval
What is the RfA process?
The Request for Approval (RfA) process is used for approval and finalisation of contracts. The designated officers (in all cases, financial and legal) give their approval, and the contracts are then signed by the responsible organisational unit (faculty, institute or Executive Board).
How will Vidatum affect the RfA process?
We will be moving to Vidatum for the Request for Approval (RfA) process. This will make the approval and signing of contracts simpler and more transparent for everyone who works in this area
What are the advantages?
Using Vidatum for the approval and signing of contracts has several advantages:
- You can easily track the status of approval and signing.
- It is easy to see what has been approved or signed, and who has done this.
- Contracts can be found quickly.
- All contracts are clearly stored in one central place.
Who will be the main users?
The new Request for Approval (RfA) process is relevant for everyone involved in approving and signing contracts, such as:
- Principal investigators and research support professionals who submit contracts.
- Institute managers who give financial approval.
- Luris staff who make the legal assessment.
Timeline
A working group with representatives from the various faculties and Luris looked at the best way for Vidatum to support the current process. At the moment we are looking at how Vidatum can replace the current request for approval form (which is now administered by Luris). This applies for all types of contracts, both in the pre-award stage and in the post-award stage - and also for separate contracts where it is not yet certain whether they will be part of an externally funded research project.
