Participation

Participation organs serve as bodies for consultation, information, communication and advice. They promote the welfare and interests of students and staff.

A number of bodies at the University have the right to consent and advise: the Faculty Councils on faculty matters and the University Council on University matters. Other bodies with these powers are the Local Consultative Body and the Employee Councils.

The members of the various participation bodies are democratically elected. This happens during the university elections.

Want to get involved in the university community and take part in the elections?

Staff members can play an active role in the University Council, Faculty Councils, Employee Councils, and Programme Committees. Members of the University Council, Faculty Councils, and Employee Councils are elected during the university elections for a term of two academic years. These elections typically take place in April or May.

In the University Council, staff representation is organised through staff parties. To participate in these elections, you can express your interest to one of the existing staff parties or choose to set up your own. Elections for Faculty and Employee Councils are generally conducted on an individual basis. Staff members actively involved in the councils are granted time off from their regular duties: University Council members receive 0.2 FTE, Faculty Council members 0.1 FTE, and Employee Council members a minimum of 60 hours per year.
